Worker and Human Rights Breakfast

Pausing to support, recognize and celebrate workers is the primary focus of the Alabama NAACP Labor and Industry Committee. This year’s Worker and Human Rights Breakfast did not disappoint as it was hosted in one of Alabama’s most fun cities, Mobile. The breakfast kicks off the annual convention as the first official gathering of the convention. It was held on that Friday, September 29, 2023, 7:30 am. The guest speaker was Mr. Fred McKenzie, the Senior Organizing Coordinator for the AFL-CIO, a highly sought after leader in the labor movement and subject matter expert in labor organizing. He specializes in empowering and improving the lives of working people, with accomplishments spanning nearly three decades. Several unions such as the Communication Workers, Steelworkers, and Ironworkers were in attendance and recognized for their tenacity to organize in Alabama. Support for unions is ongoing process but nevertheless the work must be continue and the Alabama LNI is proud to be a part of this work.

Mr. Antonie M. Maiben is shown appreciation for serving as master of ceremonies during Worker and Human Rights Breakfast.
