Labor Unions Forging Forward!
Preparing young people to enter a safe and progressive workforce is a top priority of the Alabama NAACP Labor and Industry Committee. One way envisioned to achieve this is through education thus was established the Walter P. Reuther Essay and Scholarship Contest.
Walter Philip Reuther was an American leader of organized labor and civil rights activist who helped build the United Automobile Workers (UAW) into one of the most progressive labor unions in American history. He saw the labor movements not as a narrow special interest group, but as instruments to advance social justice and human rights in democratic societies. The ASC-LNI Walter P.
